Dive the amazing dive sites along the Indian Ocean coast of South Africa and Mozambique. Manta Rays, Dolphins, Whale Sharks. Includes all dives, boat and skipper fees. Excludes tank refills and Scuba gear rental.
Day 1
Departing from Johannesburg or Durban head for the warm waters of the Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal premier dive site of Sodwana Bay. Lying within the boundaries of the Isimangaliso Wetland Park, Sodwana Bay provides the travelling diver with a vast array of unspoilt coral reefs populated with a huge diversity of Indo-Pacific fish & invertebrates.
Check into Lodge accommodation.
Day 2
Early Morning and late afternoon dives are scheduled for today. There is a choice of dive sites.
Day 3
Departing Sodwana we continue north to enter Mozambique. We follow the deep 4X4 only sand tracks to Ponta Malongane for two nights camping.
Day 4
Two dives are scheduled for today with a choice of dive sites. Whale sharks, dolphins, reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, barracuda, trevally, scorpionfish, lionfish and many other reef fish are found on the reefs in this area.
Day 5
Again heading north we drive through Maputo the capital of Mozambique before continuing to Xai-Xai and our camp for two nights overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Day 6
One Dive scheduled for today and the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. With summer temperatures ranging between 30-40 degrees and winter 20-30 degrees this is a year round destination. (Summer water temp is around 29 degrees and winter 22 degrees)
Day 7
Back in the Land Rover for our drive up to Inhambane where we take the deep sandy road to Guinjata Bay. We stay in a chalet here for 3 nights.
Day 8 to Day 10
Three scheduled dives plus many options.
Guinjata Bay is well known for its incredible whale shark diving opportunities. Definitely one of the top places in the world to encounter these majestic creatures they are known to be seen all year round but the waters are heavily populated during the Mozambique summer months (End of Oct – Feb)
Day 11
Today we dive south and start our return journey. Arriving at our overnight camp in the late afternoon.
Day 12
We enter Maputo and explore the Market and historical buildings. Early afternoon drive through the border to enter South Africa and onwards to Johannesburg where the journey ends.
